FAQs
What documents are required if I want to switch to LAMIE?
In order for us to obtain all the necessary information to cancel your old insurance contract, we need your current policy, which shows you as the policyholder and the policy number.
If you have any questions, the LAMIE Service Team will be happy to help you on 0732 2596!
Are there any costs involved when changing insurance?
The LAMIE switching service does not incur any additional cancellation costs for you. Of course, it is possible that costs would be incurred, for example, due to premature termination (before the end of the contract term). In this case, we will of course not carry out the cancellation but will obtain the costs and all details on how to proceed. You decide how to proceed.
What are the notice periods?
The notice period for fixed-term contracts usually begins 1-3 months before the end of the insurance period.
Attention: The insurer must receive the termination letter at the latest on the last working day before the start of the notice period - namely during its office hours! A common reason why insurers reject cancellations is that the notice period was not met - when an attempt is made to terminate after the notice period has started.
How can you cancel insurance?
In the case of fixed-term contracts, the term of the contract usually depends on whether and when you can terminate your old insurance.
There is usually an automatic extension for contracts with a short term (less than 3 years) (e.g. household or motor vehicle liability insurance). This means that they are automatically extended for another contract year if the customer does not cancel in good time before the end of the contract. But don't worry, your insurer must inform you in good time about the possibility of cancellation.
For insurance contracts with a contract term of more than 3 years (up to 10 years can be agreed), there is a special right of termination for consumers, after which you can terminate a contract at least after 3 years (i.e. at the end of the 3rd year).
Regardless of the contract term, there are other termination options, e.g. if you change residence or in the event of a claim.
